The internship provides students with an excellent opportunity to get useful work experience at an international organization, improve their English skills and develop event planning/program management abilities through active involvement in various programming activities.

The internship will be offered in the following office:

Educational Advising Center (2 positions)

Duties:
(1)               Assisting EAC clients with advising resources;
(2)               Signing up EAC visitors via telephone and email;
(3)               Helping EAC advisor maintain the EAC client database;
(4)               Helping EAC staff with EAC outreach activities;
(5)               Downloading, printing and making copies of documents;
(6)               Helping clients to research and fill out applications to U.S. Universities;
(7)               Other duties as required.

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the program:

ü    Be at least 18 years old
ü    Have graduated from secondary school or specialized secondary educational establishment
ü    Be currently enrolled not less than half-time in a higher educational institution in Uzbekistan – either Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (freshman-junior years)
ü    Be in a good academic standing at the current educational institution
ü    Have good computer/internet and customer service skills
ü    Be able to communicate in English, Russian and/or Uzbek
ü    Provide written permission from the educational institution
ü    Be a legal resident of Uzbekistan

In addition, the applicants must be able to work for a period of at least 6 months. Applicants must write their hours of availability (Monday through Friday) in their State of Interest. This includes available hours for the fall 2012 semester. Applicants that do not include this will not be considered.

10-ти недельная сертифицирующая программа (расписание в Приложении) развивает навыки работы с основными инструментами для создания качественных журналистских материалов, нацеленных на аудиторию Центральной Азии, для печатных, радио, ТВ и интернет-СМИ.

Для участия в программе приглашаются молодые журналисты из стран Центральной Азии на последних курсах вузов либо недавно окончившие обучение (не старше 30 лет). Кандидаты должны иметь как минимум небольшой опыт работы в СМИ. Заявки от практикующих журналистов без высшего образования также будут рассмотрены.

Обязательные требования: Базовые компьютерные навыки и свободное владение русским языком.

Для участия в программе необходимо подать заявку, включающую в себя:

• Резюме

• Короткое мотивационное письмо, объясняющее, почему участник хочет участвовать в обучении
• 3 передачи или статьи участника, которые были созданы за последние два года.
• Предложите три журналистских материала, которые Вы хотели бы подготовить — два о Вашей стране, один о Кыргызстане. (Для заявителей из самого Кыргызстана один материал из предложенных трех должен быть о любой другой стране Средней Азии.) Опишите тему, событие или сюжет, которому будет посвящен материал, напишите на какую он будет рассчитан аудиторию, и какие предполагаете использовать источники информации. Также обоснуйте, почему считаете такой материал актуальным.

Успешно прошедшие отбор кандидаты будут получать стипендию в размере 200 Евро и 150 Eвро на проживание для иногородних.

The program awards a certificate from the U.S. Government; it is not designed to deliver an advanced degree.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished professionals from designated countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe, and Eurasia to the United States at a midpoint in their careers for a year of study and related professional experiences. The Humphrey Program was initiated in 1978 to honor the memory and accomplishments of the late Senator and Vice President, Hubert H. Humphrey.
